Friendly service, bingo/brunch were an option. (I didn't order food), but the axe throwing was fun. Parking however, was a challenge because of the a.ount of businesses that share the same strip.

We played darts here. The dartboard have electronic features that stopped working. We played for about 20 mins before this happened. It was lots of fun and server apologized profusely, we got a refund. It was super fun, there are many different games that have different scoring system on the darts. Overall good fun and good service. Things break, $#!+ happens, not a big deal.

I had such an incredible time doing Bingo and Bruch that I would be willing to visit every week. I absolutely loved it and I'll be back. Eveything was superb. Only thing we wanted was to stay longer for another game. I had breakfast because it was brunch and it was quite tasty. You can go wrong pairing brunch with a Mimosa.

Amazing experience, took my grandmother to go axe throwing for her 66th birthday and we couldn't have had a better axe master. Steve was incredible. He was patient with instructing us and really helped my grandma feel at ease as she threw. Thank you for helping make my grandmas birthday one to remember!

Fantastic surprise for my son's 21st birthday last night! Axe Masters Steven and Alexander were top notch! Great teachers with a lot of humor and fun mixed in. We had a big group of 11 and the night went very smoothly. Lots of room to wait our turn before hand, easy forms to fill out online. Everyone from the Axe Manager who greeted us to the bar tender were all very nice. We will definitely make a return trip!! Thanks Detroit Axe!

My wife and I celebrated our 6th anniversary at the Ferndale location on Sunday, April 30th and we had A BLAST! We had 5 people in our group, none of whom had ever thrown an axe before. Our axemaster Steve made us feel relaxed,gave us great training and made the whole experience a fun and funny time. Geoff, the manager, was very patient with my numerous emails about how many people were coming and other questions. I would tell anyone who wants to try axe throwing but is nervous or unsure about their ability, to put those concerns aside and just go for it. You’ll love it!

Omgosh, this was so fun! Our instructor was the best! I can't remember his name but I do remember him saying he knew how to sew clothes and had created a costume for his wife. I would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back!

Girls night out was so much fun at Detroit Axe especially with DAVID, our instructor! His personality was great! None of us had been before so we were a little nervous. DAVID made our experience fun. There is something therapeutic about throwing an Axe and hearing the sound of it cleaving into the wood after a stressful day or week. It is also alot of fun with a large group; the more competitive you all are the more fun it is. Awesomely helpful and knowledgeable staff gets everyone up to speed so you can start throwing. And just in case you are worried, Yes, it is safe. It just sounds dangerous.

Today was my boyfriend’s and I first time at Detroit Axe. Luckily, I made a reservation as it gets crowded. We had Chloe Matthew as our instructor and she was phenomenal and very informative. Her tips and tricks helped me to score more bullseyes and gain the confidence to keep going. Even though it was competitive amongst our peers, we all had fun and will definitely be back.

Terrific experience!! Our score keeper was Steve and he was flat out amazing. Everyone has a score keeper. This person works there, keeps your games rolling and ensures you're being safe while drinking and throwing axes. There's fencing around so axes don't fly around. If you're not throwing axes you can grab a board game, some dice, a puzzle or a deck of cards from their HUGE library of games and sit with friends and play. Have a bowl of sugary cereal (they have all your favs) too. Loved it and will be back.

The axe throwing lessons were a lot fun and then you get to have a friendly competition after you learn. If you are looking for something exciting and new to try out you should at least do axe throwing once in your life.

A really fun place to take your friends for a night out. Axe throwing itself is inherently exciting; mix that with amazing axe masters, a low $20 entrance fee, a restaurant with board games downstairs and you have yourself a recipe for a great night. Our axe master, Jon, was amazing. Very talented thrower and excellent teacher. His demeanor gets you excited and hyped up. After teaching us the basics, he hosted a legendary tournament for our group. The other axe masters are also great. This activity is safer than you think, as there has not been an injury there in over 3 years. Something to note: come wearing close toed shoes or else you might not get to throw. In addition you may have to wait up to an hour to get your group in but at least there are things to do downstairs. Lastly you have to pay for parking unless you come on Sunday. These small things do not distract from the amount of fun you will have here. Coming here was one of the best nights I've had in a long time. We will be returning.

This was my first time here (and ever throwing an axe!!) and it was SO much fun! We had a group of 10 and our axe master Rex was very patient, helpful, and kept us all focused on the game. I love that it was like a tournament with a bracket, so it created friendly competition within our group. Even when we were done throwing we stayed at the bar to talk and play games since this place has such a great atmosphere! I’d definitely come back even if it was just to have a drink or for date night since I had such a great experience! Great staff, tasty food, good drinks, what more could you ask for?!

The staff was willing to work with us individually to make sure we all knew how to throw at the start, we got to choose our names to use up on the overhead scoreboards like at a bowling alley, and we ended with a bracket that kept it feeling intense! Not to mention the beer selection they have available is pretty decent. Seemed like there was something for everyone, and I wish I would've ordered more fries ;) There's something about throwing axes that just makes you feel like a beast! We've been twice now, and I'd definitely go again.

My sister-in-law bought us a gift certificate to Detroit Axe for Christmas. We were so thankful for the gift as everyone in the family had an awesome time...including 2 teenage girls. Our "axe master" was extremely patient and helpful. He helped all of us become successful AND safe axe throwers. He led us through a variety of fun games and paired us up evenly based on our "skills". My 13 year old daughter was the most skilled...which I think left my hubby dazed and confused. 🤔. I went on a night with my friends to celebrate a birthday. Somehow the power ended up going out and yet we all managed to enjoy it there along with everyone else. The staff were friendly during the tutorial on how to throw the axes and explaining the safety precautions necessary to prevent any injuries. They gave everyone that came a voucher for a free visit to make up for the power outage. The drinks are tasty and the food I wasn’t able to try sadly but looking forward to trying it out again soon. It’s fun and easier than you would think to hit the bullseye.

Went here with my friend on NYE and we had a great time! I had been axe throwing once before but it was at a place in Lansing where you basically just throw on your own and score your own game, if you choose. At Detroit Axe, they have skilled axe throwers who will help throughout the experience. When we got there, we were put into a group of 8 and then had to come up with our axe throwing names to put on the scoreboard. Mine was E Valkyrie - thanks to our host for coming up with that axe-ellent name ;) We started with a round robin game where you compete against someone else in your group. After you're all warmed up with that, you do a tournament! I really like the format of the games and also the experience of having an axe-perienced person to give you tips and keep track of the game. The atmosphere was very fun and laid back. It's located in the back of the Corner Bar which is really cozy and looks like a nice place to hangout. Definitely recommend this for a hang out with friends, a date, family get-together, or even a company outing! Sorry about the axe puns.

This place is really cool. Our instructor was very helpful in showing us how to throw the ax without getting hurt. It took a few throws to get use to it but after that it was pretty fun. The food was really good also. They have a small bar upstairs with a nice selection of craft beers and liquors.

The games played are a fun way to pass the time and meet new people too. I don't really recommend eating at the bar...3 drinks and 2 plates of food, plus a tip was $80. A bit steep.

A large group of us went axe throwing for the first time last Friday. To be honest, I was not really sure what to expect and was a little apprehensive. I'm not exactly athletic or adventurous but decided to give it a shot. First off, the place is really cool. Fun design elements, nice lounge, great food! The check in process was organized and simple. They were patient with us as our group arrived at slightly different times. Our axe masters were fantastic and explained the rules and safety practices. They provided individual instruction and tips as we each took our turns, and gently corrected mistakes. They kept us running smoothly throughout the whole experience. Honestly it would have quickly turned into mayhem without them. We all had a great time!! Here are a few things you may want to know if it's your first time: plan on getting there a little early as parking can be a challenge (valet parking available in the back alley), choose your outfit carefully (athletic clothes recommended and closed toe comfortable shoes required), this is not like bowling - you are going to be throwing the axe a lot more than you may expect, lastly but most importantly do not drink beforehand and really, really limit yourself during. It's no joke! Again, unlike bowling where you can imbibe throughout the games, this is dangerous and you can tell that you could get hurt if you're not 100% aware of what you're doing. Overall it was a really fun experience and the staff are fun, knowledgeable, well organized, and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend trying it out!!

The axe throwing was awesome and service staff were five stars. We will definitely be returning! Our instructor was professional and entertaining, but made sure to put an emphasis on safety. Wait staff was also perfect! The only reason I did not provide a five star rating is that the food was lack luster. The burger we ordered just looked and tasted like a greasy burger. The brisket sliders are just missing something. The seasoning could be so much better. Ribs seemed over cooked and underwhelming. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of pulled from the bone chicken for the chicken salad. White chicken breasts would fare much better.

Board games and larger tables for groups, smaller tables and couches by fireplaces for couples looking for a more intimate experience. Each table is accessible by a device used by the wait staff for speedy and convenient payment service. The large bar is located in the center of the building. This unique spot should be the place of anyone's next night out looking for something new, but not particularly easy on the wallet unless you split the food with a group.

Such an incrediable experience. I went here with a large group for a birthday. They were extremely accommodating of our group, our axe trainer was both humorous and very informative - He let us have the great time we wanted. They let you participate in a group tournament, and I did pretty well for throwing the axes having never done so prior. It's a very fun time I highly recommend it. The food was also incrediable, I got the Mac and Cheese. No joke it was probably the best Mac and cheese I've had in my life. So gooey and creamy, with bread crumbs on the top, I've never eaten anything like it. I can't recommend it enough. You should definately go here if you're looking for a great time and delicious food.

This was such a cool experience! My family went as a group for my cousin's birthday. All of the staff was great, but our Axemaster was wonderful, showing us just what to do, giving us pointers after each throw, and being very encouraging. And it was so exciting once I got the technique down and was able to actually aim correctly! You can get drinks from the bar upstairs where the axe-throwing lanes are (but they of course will not let you participate if you are at all visibly drunk), and downstairs, there's a whole restaurant, and they will even come take your order near the end of your time slot in the axe lane. The food was very good. Even cooler, they have a giant wall of every board game you can imagine, and you can pull one out and play while you eat! And they have games in the wrapping for sale in case you really liked the one you tried and want to buy it. Overall, this was so fun and interesting! Do take note that upstairs, it is a little dark and loud, of course because of the talking and axe-throwing, but also because they play music in the room - it didn't bother us though. It was just COOL! Even the members of my family who didn't throw had a wonderful time! I very highly recommend this to anyone with even a little bit of an adventurous side!

At the end of the first session of learning to throw axes you will know how to throw an axe properly to land into a solid wood Target and brings a great feeling of accomplishment. The bar is very clean very home-like setting Clearview for spectators safety is a very high priority with the staff. I highly recommend this is a pass time for both young and old adults.

So we were a little unsure at first, because of the reservation rules as far as number of people. We ended up trying for "walk-on" and were able to get a lane with only a 15 minute wait. You receive a safety briefing before you enter the throwing area, and once inside you taken 2 at a time for instruction on how to properly throw an axe. Your instructor will adjust your position on the lane during that time and also once the matches start to help you in sticking your throws. Great fun and well the visit. Absolutely need to go back.

This place is fantastic. My entire group had a ball. If you want to see and be seen, head out in the late evening (knowing you'll have to wait). If you want more elbow room, go before 3 pm. The service is great, the staff is friendly. Two thumbs up!!!

This place rocks. Raven our axe mistress taught us the ropes,conditioned us, threatened our lives, then gave us the throw down. We played games and threw axes while consuming great food and alcoholic beverages. What a great country we live in. Awesome place we will be back.

Pros: Best part is the staff. Bartenders to Axe Master, they are all friendly, fun and responsible. Different activity. Surprisingly not difficult to throw and hit target. Unbelievably large selection of board games in downstairs bar. Cons: The drinks are overpriced and under delivered. Downstairs bartenders were good but served Moscow mules in regular glassware and charge $9... Food wasn't that great and menu was even worse. We came in with large group of 8 and were still paired with another couple. Being it's timed and only 2 throwers participating at a time, this further reduced the amount of times we could throw. The lanes were only half filled so this pairing did not make any sense. For $20/person for 1 hour, I don't even think we got 20 throws each 😕. Also the lanes are EXTREMELY small and no room to stand anywhere, again even with only half the lanes filled. In all I loved the concept and the atmosphere. Had a Great time taking our team there; however, for the amount of actual axe throwing we did, it was very expensive and very tight space for the amount of people they squeeze into each lane

Pricy at 20 dollars a person walk in however you get an axe master which keeps an eye on your safety practices so noone gets hurt. He (or she) will teach you as well if it is your first time. Unfortunately without a group of 6 or more you cannot reserve a lane, however if you call they will let you know when walk in hours are and if they are subject to change. A great activity or date, they have a Game of Thrones style chair you can take photos and pose awkwardly which is raised up a good 4/5 feet with axes feathered behind the backrest. Worth checking out for sure!

Went here for a company event and we had a great time. Honestly, the workers are great and are very helpful. The beer and food is reasonably priced. I do not think the actually axe throwing is reasonably price. It cost $40 per person which I think is a little on the high end in my opinion. If it wasn't a company event I would have not came here because of the price. Not that i'm stingy it's I just don't think it was worth the money. Experience was awesome though!

This place is fun. All you do is throw at a target, but it's a good time. There is something visceral about throwing an axe. It probably helps to have a beard, as handling an axe will come more naturally.

Visited with a party of 13 on a Saturday. Didn't have to wait long. We all had a blast. Our axe master was awesome. Was a bit intimidating at first but we all had alot of fun with the tournament style competition. The bar area does get a bit crowded. Would recommend to others for a fun night out.

Jaden was awesome in leading our group. The two hour block consists of a warm up, earning a “seed” for the tournament, and then playing a tournament. We had a few minutes to play after the tournament as well. Reservation price is $40/person. Walk in is $20. Cool experience if you have a fun group to try at least once!

Axe throwing was a blast for everyone in our party, regardless of athletic inclination. It is well supervised and maintained. Downstairs, there is an enormous wall of board games to wind down with afterwards, and the dinner service was great. Good burgers and very decent drink selection. Axe lanes were well booked in advance on a Saturday night, so I would highly advise reservations for that. The bar and tables downstairs were spacious enough to accommodate walk-ins. Can't wait to go back!

Had a great time here with a group of 12 people. For anyone looking, it is located above the corner bar. Axe throwing was really fun and our axe master was patient enough to teach everyone in our group how to properly throw an axe. Drinks at the bar cost a little more than average for the area. My friends said they enjoyed the food. Later in the night it became really crowded. They also have board games for those not throwing axes.

I had a BLAST at this place! Went with a group of 6, everyone got a solid chance to throw the axes, the tournaments were done super well, service was EXCELLENT! Our Axe Master Chris was super awesome. Only complaint is that the drinks were pricey but honestly you're gonna get that anywhere. Food was also super good. 13/10 would go again

This place runs a tight ship and the service is spectacular for as busy as they are. We reserved an hour for our friends and us. While they were running ten minutes behind, they constantly checked up on us and made sure we knew they didn't forget us. Our instructor was amazing!!! She took her time and teaching us how to throw an axe properly and we never felt rushed. Our game for 7 ran over the your reservation and we had a great time. Our instructor even joined in on our competitive banter. I recommend reserving a time rather than the open axe throwing. Definitely tip tip tip! They work hard and it shows!

Cool place, kinda indirect and unorganized staff but very fun. Throwing axes was fun, It felt like i was in Abraham Lincoln's backyard. $20 per person. The bar was taxin though, we maybe because you shouldn't throw axes while intoxicated. Very cool idea though but fowling is much more feasible.

I came here Sunday evening and had so much fun. We had a group of 8 all of which had never throw axes before. We had Raven as our axe master and she was phenomenal! She made sure everyone knew proper technique, safety, and had us laughing the entire time we were there. Not only is the axe throwing super fun, but they have a bar upstairs and downstairs, both with a solid selection of craft beer and cocktails. They have a wall downstairs with all kinds of board and card games for people to play with with. The atmosphere was perfect, all of staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend detroit axe for date night, birthday, bachelor/ette parties, team building or just for something fun to do. I will definitely be back.

We had our studio holiday party at Detroit Axe tonite and everyone agreed it was the coolest venue for a group party. The staff were amazing and handled a very busy evening with confidence and skill, The axe throwing was a huge hit with our staff and our teacher Raven and her crew added to the fun. Food was way beyond our expectations. I highly recommend this venue/restaurant for an event or a fun date or family night out. Can't wait to check out the restaurant downstairs with their amazing selection of board games available to play while eating and drinking.

A fun place! We ate dinner had drinks and played board games. The axe throwing was upstairs and required a separate reservation (which we did not have) it cost 20 dollars a person per hour. Next time we go back we'll give it a try. Also you're only allowed one drink an hour if you want to throw axes.
