Eddie does a great job at caring for your trees and your property. He knows how to properly thin the weight off an old oak and keep it healthy and beautiful. He’s organized and clean. He gently ropes down each limb and breaks them up before pulling them out to the chipper. Much appreciated for our beautiful home.

Eddie crafted and resurrected our Siberian Elm with care. He's a dedicated arborist, an advocate for natural beauty, and a talented craftsman. All future tree work on our property will be going Eddie's Way. Thank you so much! The Akemann Family.

Eddie is passionate about trees and takes pride in the quality of his work. He’s got a bunch done in our garden and was honest and upfront about what needed and didn’t need to be done, pros and cons of each tree etc. He also doesn’t try to sell you a “subscription” like some companies do. The most impressive part was the trimming of the massive Chinese Elm and Silk Oak we have on our property. Eddie and his crew took a sizable amount of material from the trees, but when you looked at it afterwards you really couldn’t tell! That really takes experience and skill. Thanks Eddie for a job well done!

Eddie's very knowledgeable and did a great job assessing the health and safety of a very old, large Siberian Elm in our backyard. He removed quite a bit of weight from over the top of our roof, the neighbour's roof, and parts of their yard while preserving the natural shape and lines of the tree. It's been a little over a year and we haven't had any issues with broken limbs since!

Eddie took out two redwoods from our yard that had started to die. He was very efficient and safe and really cares about his quality of work. He did a great job with trees, stumps and cleanup and also helped with permitting process which was very helpful. Overall I would definitely recommend him and would use his services again in the future! Thanks Eddie!

Eddie is an ISA Certified Arborist since 1993 with an ISA Tree Risk Qualification and is also a ASCA Consulting Arborist. These credentials confirm his effort to maintain competency in the tree care industry, and the work he performs without a doubt shows his detail and perfection above and beyond my expectations. Eddie has planted and maintained my landscape for over 18 years, consisting of 26 Japanese maples, Chinese pistache, Red Horse Chestnut, Tricolor Beech, Strawberry Tree, New Zealand Tea Trees, and many other ornamental plantings. Eddie transformed my yard into a living sanctuary with two running fountains and flowering shrubs that attract a variety of birds and every evening about 20 doves arrive to add to the ambiance. It is very nice to have work done by someone with knowledge and that is extremely conscientious from plant selection, installation, irrigation, and award winning pruning.

We’d like to highly recommend the services by Eddie at Neck of The Woods Tree Service. He recently pruned several of our CA Live Oak trees, a Callery Pear tree and removed an old, decaying pine tree. Eddie listened to our pruning needs, then he evaluated the trees' conditions and proposed a plan for what needed to be done. What we appreciated was his concern for maintaining a good esthetic and health of each tree as well as the surrounding yard while still addressing our pruning needs. He provided documented quotes and he took care of all the city permits. We feel his pricing was reasonable. He communicated his work schedule in advance. The work was very professionally executed and the crew took great care to make sure no damage was done to any of the surrounding buildings. The pine tree removal was a challenge for them as it was a very big tree that was close to our house. The care they took in removing it insuring our home was not harmed was truly remarkable and very appreciated. They cleaned up the work site every day and Eddie kept us informed as to their work progress. Overall, we whole-heartedly recommend Eddie and Neck of the Woods Tree Service for any tree job!

Eddie just finished another large project for me. He trimmed 3 very large oak trees to allow a view of the Bay from my property. The trees had previously (before I bought the property) been topped (by someone else) and looked terrible. Eddie came in and meticulously shaped each tree to maximize the view without compromising the tree's health or shape. The trees look beautiful. Eddie is really a professional and will do a great job. He arrived on time, worked very hard long hours, took care not to damage any other landscaping, and cleaned up thoroughly after himself. He is not the cheapest guy out there, but his work is well worth the cost.

Great Job Eddy. Neck of the Woods started a job in the middle of the night during a rainstorm! Prevented a possible life threatening accident from occurring.

I have a large old beautiful Valley oak here in Redwood City. To me, this ancient living thing is one of the biggest assets to my property. So I wanted to be careful about who I hired to make the cuts and trims needed. After asking around a bit, I received the referral to Neck of the Woods from a very trusted contractor who handles the majority of the septic system work in this area. Right away I felt the tree was going to be in good and competent hands when I learned that the certified arborist is the one who actually climbs into the tree to make the cuts! This was the selling point for me, knowing that a person with real knowledge of tree health was going to decide each cut. What I didn't realize was the level of perfectionism that would be applied to job. The slogan of this company is "Exquisite Living Artwork". That became quite evident as the job progressed with meticulous attention to balance, canopy height, and detail deadwood removal resulting in a classic look and gorgeous view into this big old Valley oak! I was so happy with the service that I had them come back after 10 years to do the next trimming, with equally superb results. If you truly love your trees, you can't go wrong with Neck of the Woods. In my humble opinion, they are simply the BEST, head and shoulders above anybody else out there!

Eddie is good, knowledgeable, and fair. He oversaw the cutting of tree roots when we had sidewalk repairs in 2015, and the trees involved have survived beautifully. I will contact Eddie again when we need help with our live oaks.

I've been using Neck of the Woods for more than 30 years. Eddie is an independent who is educated, experienced, efficient, and always a man of his words. A few times, I've strayed. A typical time was when a guy gave me an estimate to take down an 80 foot fir tree for half Eddie's bid. The guy took it down, all right, and then left the entire thing in my driveway in 20 foot pieces, telling me he only agreed to take it down, not cut it up, feed the branches into the wood chipper, and haul the mess away. I had to call Eddie to do the far bigger half of the job. If you, like me, want to try saving money, call someone else now and Neck of the Woods later. Or you could save yourself the trouble by calling Neck of the Woods to begin with.

Ed has pruned oak and other trees on our property several times over the last 15 years or so. His work reflected his knowledge of maintaining the health of trees, as well as the art of pruning, and he always did a thorough, beautiful job from beginning to end. The work was done in a timely manner, as scheduled. My husband and I would highly recommend Ed based on our experiences with him.

I have used Neck of the Woods twice now. Both times have been to prune and shape large old Oak trees. Eddie and his team did a great job both times. Eddie clearly knows what he is doing as an arborist. He is reasonably priced, fast, and has a no BS style that makes him very easy to work with. I highly recommend him.

I have used Neck of the Woods twice. Each time it was for tree trimming which is much more critical than just chopping down a tree. Eddie the owner does all his own work and puts a lot of care and effort into his tree trimming. Both times I was extremely pleased with the result. The larger job involved trimming multiple trees to open up a view which didn't exist before. Due to the height of the viewing balcony you looked at the tress straight on rather than just looking up from the ground so it was important that the trees looked good too. Heads-up, being a salesman is not Eddie's strong point, he is more of a hands on type with a lot of knowledge. Also his prices were very reasonable.

A couple of large oaks came down in our backyard during a winter storm, making most of the yard inaccessible. We hired Eddie to remove the fallen trees, which he and his crew did in only one day. Afterward, we asked him for an assessment of a few other trees that appeared at risk of falling on our house. As a certified arborist, Eddie provided a report recommending removal of a diseased tree and pruning of a large heritage oak that had 80% of its structure on the side of the tree toward the house. Subsequently, Eddie and his team removed the diseased tree and pruned the large oak, taking great care to protect our house. He’s the one we’ll turn to for any future work.

I asked some trusted friends for advise on a tree service, they suggested Neck Of the Woods. I am so glad that I heeded their advise. I had to have multiple large and small Maple trees pruned and trimmed, Eddie Farquharson came out inspected the trees came up with a plan and went to work, what an artist, to watch this man work is pure astonishment such perfection, such vision. My trees are so beautiful and healthy, light is getting in to the right branches, the form is magnificent . Needless to say if you love your trees and want the best for them, your trees, shrubs will be grateful you hired Eddie….

We had a fire in our backyard a year or so before we found out about Neck of the Woods Tree Service. After a thoughtful evaluation of the condition of our fire damaged trees, we sadly decided to have them removed. I have nothing but good things to say about the end results and add my recommendation without reservation. Agnes - Sunnyvale

Neck of the Woods did a good job landscaping our side yard and choosing the trees that would be planted there. The owner/operator struck me as being somewhat of an expert with respect to trees, and quite passionate about trees too. Good to get work done by people that care about what they're doing.

We had a redwood and Oak trees removed. Ed was very knowledgeable and professional – he even took care the permit for us. Definitely, recommend! In the winter of 2023, Ed and his teams "Neck of the Woods" helped us again to take care of hazardous 100' tree on my property, and I cannot express how impressed I am with their professionalism and dedication. The tree had experienced a failure of one of its tops, which landed precariously on my roof. Ed provided Arborist Report and submitted to the county and diligently pursued the county to expedite the hazardous 100' tree removal with the permits. Their expertise and guidance were instrumental in navigating bureaucratic hurdles, ensuring a swift resolution to a potentially dangerous situation. As the tree was dismantled, it became evident that there was a split between the two remaining larger tops, reinforcing the urgency of the removal. Ed and the team executed the task with precision, prioritizing safety and efficiency. I can't emphasize enough how strongly I recommend Ed and his team at "Neck of the Woods." Their proactive and professional demeanor, coupled with their ability to handle complex situations. In times of crisis, you want a team like Ed and his team of "Neck of the Woods" by your side.

We had Eddie's team remove a large pine that was dying. They were very professional and had it out quite quickly. I watched them for a while and it was fun to see the exceptional skill level up in the tree. On a previous occasion we had him remove a tree and put in a replacement 10' tree into our yard. That tree didn't really thrive but that may be more from neglect than his skill. That tree removal and replacement went smoothly.

Had trees removed, stumps grinded and a tree pruned along with planting replacement trees. Eddie, the owner & primary tree trimmer, and his crew did an excellent job in completing the work. An Arborist report was provided and submitted which was required for a permit for one of the trees for the permit. Very good suggestions were given on replacement trees. The price was very competitive and with the added value of Eddie's overall knowledge as an Arborist, this made it even more of a value for the price. The job site was thoroughly cleaned and left looking very attractive. Overall provided much better tree service due to his knowledge, workmanship and price than the other two tree service companies I have used in past.

I have been very pleased with work and service of this company. The owner, Eddie, is very knowledgeable, punctual, reasonably priced, and knows what he is doing. Many years ago, he had to put a huge bolt in one of my trees because it was splitting. Now, 10 years later, you can't even see where the bolt is and the tree is as healthy as can be. He has periodically trimmed many of my trees, ground out stumps, and done other landscaping and I have always been pleased. I have referred him to many neighbors and friends and I always get positive feedback. I would recommend him.
